Tasting notes
A soft sweetness to open the cup.
A rich, familiar center.
A warm, rounded nutty note.
A hint of fruit to brighten the finish.

Oregon in the everyday
Since 2013, That Oregon Life has shared the places, people, and stories that make this state feel like home. Coffee gives us one more way to bring a little of that feeling into the day.
Crater Lake Sunrise takes its name from one of Oregon’s most memorable places. The beans come from Brazil and Honduras; the roasting happens in Lincoln City, on the Oregon Coast. The name is an Oregon tribute, while the label tells you where the coffee was grown.
Whether you’re making breakfast at home or filling a thermos before the next Oregon road trip, this is a cup to make part of your own routine.
A good place to start
Grind just before brewing and start with fresh water. These recipes are starting points—adjust the grind and strength until the cup tastes right to you.
Use a medium grind. Start with the 1:16 ratio, scaled to your brewer, and follow its water and basket limits. Want a stronger cup? Try a little more coffee on the next brew.
Start with 20 g of medium-fine ground coffee and 320 g of water. Rinse the paper filter, add the coffee, then wet the grounds with about 40 g of water. Let them bloom for 30–45 seconds before pouring the remaining water slowly and evenly. Adjust the grind if the brew runs unusually fast or slow.
Start with 30 g of coarse-ground coffee and 480 g of hot water. Stir gently to wet the grounds, steep for about four minutes, then press slowly. Pour the coffee into your mug or a carafe rather than leaving it on the grounds.
Reseal the bag after each use and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the beans whole until you’re ready to brew.
